If you don’t think sweet bean paste sounds like cause for an event, then it’s even more reason to head to the 7th floor of Mitsukoshi Department store in Nihonbashi this week to experience some of the best bean pastes in the country. The event explores both traditional and new innovative styles of this quintessential ingredient that is commonly used in desserts.
Over 25 vendors will showcase the wide variety of bean pastes and creative ways to serve them. Beyond the more classic and common varieties of tsubuan (chunky red bean paste) and koshian (smooth red bean paste), you can find white bean paste mixed with miso, chestnut puree and even cream cheese.
