Asakusa Samba Carnival

Ever since the Sanja Matsuri got cancelled, rumours have been flying around that Asakusa's annual samba parade would also be getting the axe this year. It took the organisers a long time to reach a decision, but in mid-June they finally announced that it would be 'postponed'... until next year ('cancelled', apparently, is just too dirty a word to sully this carnival with). According to the official announcement, it was actually the rescheduling of this year's Sumida River Fireworks Festival to August 27 that landed the death blow: presumably there's only so much crowding the Asakusa neighborhood can take on one day.
