This summer sees the return of Ebisu’s Bon Obori festival, held right in front of Ebisu Station’s West exit. You can’t miss the massive Bon Odori stage on the street, surrounded by pink lanterns. The festivities start at 5.30pm with an opening ceremony complete with taiko drumming on both days, followed by street dancing that lasts till 9.15pm. If you’re looking to join in the communal dance, look for the designated entrances for participants.
As with all summer festivals in Tokyo, you can expect to find food and drink stalls offering ice-cold beers and kakigori shaved ice desserts. There’s even a section with activities and games for children.
