This Brazilian festival is a small-scale reproduction of the Festa Junina, an event that’s celebrated annually in June in Brazil.
Currently in its 16th year, this Tokyo festival features an open-air market with stalls selling everything from antiques, jewellery and kitchenware to domestic Brazilian vegetables and craft cachaça, a spirit made from sugar cane juice. You’ll also find a flea market, where you can shop for preloved CDs, books, T-shirts and more.
If you’re looking to sample some Brazilian cuisine, you’re in luck. There’s mungunzá salgado (¥1,500), a hearty stew with corn, beans, spare ribs, bacon and linguiça sausage, as well as bolinho de milho (¥500), mini croquettes made with corn and cheese. Pair your meal with a cachaça cocktail, caipirinha and more.
Live music and DJ group Cinco will be setting the mood for the entire festival. At 7pm, you can even join in a traditional Brazilian quadrilha dance session.
The event takes place from 12noon to 8pm.
