For a chance to see the fireflies in their natural glory, head to the countryside. It's a bit of a mouthful, but the lush, wooded area around Yuuyake Koyake Fureai no Sato is the perfect place to pitch up at dusk, and - if you're quick - to grab a room and a dip in the onsen before you head back to town the next morning.
