First Sunrise at Miura Beach

Always one of the most popular spots for watching the first sunrise of the new year south of Tokyo, the expansive Miura Beach offers spectacular views of the sun emerging from beyond the Boso Peninsula on the other side of Tokyo Bay. In addition to the main event, there are all sorts of fun activities going on from 5.30am, including taiko drum performances, raffles and a mikan-throwing contest. The organisers also serve up free soup to help you keep the cold away.
