Furikake (dry seasoning for sprinkling on rice and dishes) from 14 prefectures will compete at the Furikake Grand Prix for the crown of Japan’s best rice seasoning of 2019. Entrance to the event is free but you can purchase a bowl of rice for ¥200 and go around each stall to taste the different furikake, which come in unique flavours like garlic, curry, wasabi and even sweet roasted soybean. The tasting packages are free, and if you really like it, you can also buy some to take home. Once you’ve tasted all and picked your favorite, fill in the ballot to vote for the tastiest furikake.
