Until recently, a life-sized moving Gundam only existed in the dreams of fans of the series, but thanks to the magic of engineering, you can now see the colossal 18-metre-tall robot for yourself in Yokohama. Opened on December 19 2020, the Gundam Factory Yokohama is a long-awaited attraction featuring shops, exhibits, interactive experiences and a themed café dedicated to the Gundam series.
Learn about how robots are designed and structured at the Academy, or take part in Softbank’s Gundam Pilot View 5G experience, where you get to look out from the inside of the robot’s cockpit as it moves. You can also get an up-close look at the massive mecha by buying a separate ticket for the Gundam Dock Tower (¥3,300), where you’ll come face to face with the head of the Gundam.
