Time Out says

Not everything in J.K. Rowling’s world of witchcraft and wizardry is fantasy. When crafting the Harry Potter books, Rowling found inspiration in ancient mythology and researched once-widespread supernatural beliefs from around the world. This exhibition all the way from the British Library in London has finally made its way to Tokyo.

The exhibition is divided into different subjects taught at Hogwarts, so you can explore the roots of disciplines like herbology, alchemy, divination and enchantment through a trove of ancient parchment, curious trinkets and other artefacts dating back to the 4th century.

Potterheads will also have the special opportunity to see Rowling’s sketches, notes and original manuscripts from the early stages of writing what would become one of the most successful fiction series of all time. Highlights include a sketched diagram of the hidden entrance to Diagon Alley, as well as a stunning study of the Hogwarts Express at platform nine-and-three-quarters by illustrator Jim Kay.

Note that you must book a ticket for a specified time slot online before visiting this exhibition.

Can't make it to Tokyo Station Gallery? Some parts of the show are available online for free, so you can read stories of the men and women wrongly accused of witchcraft in the 17th century, and even check out more of Jim Kay's illustrations.
