Time Out says

Kabukicho’s Bon Odori festival is happening again this year and it's taking over Cine City Square in front of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower for two daysThe event is led by Ageha Bijyo, a professor and expert in Japanese folk dance with involvement in some of the country's most prestigious folk dance associations and festivals.

There’s no need to feel intimidated if this is your first Bon Odori. Ageha will coach you with a step-by-step guide on how to perform the Bon dance – and not just the classic Bon Odori but also a modernised version with pop songs as well. Japanese drum idol group Tokyo Otome Taiko will contribute to the festivities with a taiko drum performance. Moreover, don't miss the unpredictable and comical stage performances by the Blue Man Group, a special appearance to coincide with their Japan tour at the nearby Milano-Za. New for 2026, expect to also see Godzilla join in the action with a large statue of the monster at the event square.

The event is free, so put on your best yukata and come join in!
