This three-day Okinawa fair takes place at the Kawasaki Racecourse. Look forward to sampling the holiday island’s signature dishes such as Okinawan-style takoyaki and soba, taco rice and brown-sugar chinbin crepes. Wash it down with the island’s popular Orion beer; ¥100 of every beer sold will be donated to the rebuilding fund for the Unesco World Heritage-listed Shuri Castle in Naha.
On Saturday and Sunday, don’t miss the eisa dance and live music performances by local artists including singer-songwriter Tasuku Kamiya, 5th Elements duo, and Green Note Coaster.
The festival runs from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, 10am-8pm on Saturday, and 10am-7pm on Sunday. The event is free, but you’ll need to make an advance reservation for Friday, September 16. See more information on the Kawasaki Racecourse website.
