Featuring 100,000 bright yellow himawari, the Kiyose Sunflower Festival is the closest a Tokyoite can get to frolicking through a flower field. Located an express train ride from Ikebukuro, the festival is known for its colourful flowers that contrast with the bright post-rainy season blue sky.
There will also be some events during the festival. On July 23 at 10am and 3pm, there will be a Polynesian and Tahitian dance performance, while on July 30 at 2.30pm you can enjoy live music from a local band.
Entry is free, but you need to register in advance via the website from July 1.
