Time Out says

One of Tokyo's best Japanese gardens, Koishikawa Korakuen has a history that dates back to the early Edo Period (1600-1868), when it was created as part of the ruling Tokugawa family's Tokyo residence. For the very first time, this tranquil heritage garden is open after sundown for a special night visit as part of the Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination event nearby.

During this time, the garden's iconic Karamon Gate, which is usually closed, will be open and illuminated, so are various parts of the garden including the scenic Horai island in the middle of the lake. Expect to see projection mapping visuals (in the inner garden) as well as classic Japanese performing arts such as sato kagura and kyogen.

The special night opening runs from 6pm to 9pm, with last admission at 8.30pm. Tickets are ¥1,000 at the door, or you can purchase them in advance for ¥800 via our affiliated partner Klook.
