Time Out says

As long as it can be skewered, it's OK – this macabre motto captures the essence of Koenji's Kushi Kushi Battle, where area eateries serve up delicious kushi (skewers) at special prices throughout the event period. In addition to the familiar yakitori (chicken), yakiton (pork) and kushikatsu (deep-fried), you'll also find vegetarian and sweet options here. Pick up the free guide map, tour the shops and vote for your favourite, or just head over on November 22 or 23 and eat your fill at the kushi stalls set up inside the Hikawa Shrine grounds. That same weekend also sees a crafts market held at Koenji-Minami Chuo Park and live music played outside the south exit of Koenji Station.
