The Harry Potter franchise is taking over Yokohama’s Minatomirai area this Christmas. Potterheads should head straight to the Yokohama Landmark Tower for the massive 12-metre-tall Christmas tree in the Landmark Plaza shopping mall. The tree puts on a stunning light show in the evening (every 30 minutes between 4pm-11pm) with dancing snowflakes and floating candles. The building’s observation deck, Sky Garden on the 69th floor, features two more Harry Potter-themed photo spots as well as golden window decorations, adding to the beautiful night scenery.
You’ll find another nine-metre-tall Harry Potter-themed Christmas tree set up at the Grand Gallery on the first floor of the Mark Is Minatomirai shopping mall. This one represents an exciting Quidditch match, the fictional sport in the movies, complete with wind, fanfare sounds and lights. The dynamic show takes place every 30 minutes between 4pm and 11pm. Don’t forget to drop by the mall’s fifth floor for another photo spot themed on the Fantastic Beast movies.
