New Year's Eve Countdown at Yokohama Chinatown

Although Yokohama's Chinatown is better known for its Lunar New Year celebrations, the action does get pretty intense on December 31 as well. The revelry centres around Kanteibyo Temple, where firecrackers fly, lion dancers strut their stuff and local residents say their first prayers of the year in rather less orderly fashion than at most temples and shrines in Japan. Do note that the crowding here can be overwhelming at times.
