Make your way out to picturesque Shibamata over the long October weekend, when the neighbourhood's first oiran procession is put on by the Hibiki Family theatre troupe. Taking place around Taishakuten Temple, this one makes for a great excuse to explore the old-school surrounds, snack on some kusa dango (sweet dumplings) and take in the atmosphere of an area that deserves much more recognition than it's currently getting.
Note that in case of heavy rain, the event will be moved to November 19.
