Time Out says

Escape the city for this spectacular show of fireworks in the great outdoors. This weekend’s Okutama Noryo Fireworks Festival is now in its 49th year and it’s held at Hikawa in the scenic mountain village of Okutama. Expect to see 1,000 shells of fireworks light up the night sky and the surrounding mountains.

This year, paid seats are only available for purchase in advance via Ticket Pia. Tickets at the Togehara parking lot and Okutama Junior High School parking lot ticketed viewing areas are now sold out, but the Hikawa Elementary School viewing area still has seats, with prices starting at ¥2,500 per lot for four people. Access the venue by getting off at Oku-Tama station, and taking a short four-minute walk uphill to the school on the other side of the station.

In case of stormy weather, the festival will be postponed to August 9.
