Time Out says

One of the unexpected consequences of the March 11 disaster last year was a surge in cycle commuting in Tokyo – and a year and a half later, it looks like many of the people who converted to pedal power are still at it. You can meet a few of them at this three-day bike fest, where the attractions range from an evening group ride to Japan's first bicycle beauty contest. The action starts on Friday, when there'll be stalls and events in Yoyogi Park (including the aforementioned beauty contest), then shifts to the United Nations University Farmer's Market and 246 Common in Aoyama on Saturday and Sunday. See the Pedal Day 2012 website for information about what's happening on each day.
