Sanrio character Badtz Maru is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and shopping complex Miyashita Park is getting involved with Badtz Maru graffiti and LED signage.
Selected restaurants and cafés are participating in this celebration by serving Badtz Maru-themed food and drink. Get the likes of a black coffee float (¥759) from Miyashita Cafe, ultra-spicy fries (¥780) from Gran Sol Tokyo and an itazura (meaning mischievous in Japanese) tiramisu dusted in black powder (¥800) at Bread, Espresso & Machiawase.
Fans of the spiky-haired penguin should stop by the pop-up store on the second level to purchase Badtz Maru keychains, T-shirts and plushies, all exclusive to this 30th anniversary event. Better yet, you’ll get to meet the character himself roaming around the facility from 1pm to 1.30pm, 3pm to 3.30pm and 5pm to 5.30pm on April 1.
Those who spend more than ¥2,000 during the event can enter a competition to win exclusive items like Badtz Maru stickers, tote bags and even a pair of tickets to visit Sanrio Puroland theme park.
