For this year's Tanabata, or Star Festival, make a wish at Tokyo Daijingu, a sacred Shinto shrine associated with love and marriage. During this special celebration, you can write your hopes and dreams on a tanzaku slip (¥300) and hang it on one of the bamboo branches at the shrine. The line of bamboo wishing trees will be lit up at nightfall until 9pm between July 1 and 7, making for a magical nighttime atmosphere.
