Catch the first sunrise of the year from the south observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku. The observation deck on the 45th floor opens exclusively to 400 people between 6am and 7.30am, with the first sunrise of 2023 expected to be at around 6.50am.
In order to join the event, you’ll have to register in advance by 11.59pm on December 13. A lottery system will be implemented if applications exceed the number of available tickets. Results will be announced via email on December 20.
The observation deck opens between 7.30am and 5pm for non-ticket holders as well.
