The extensive Toshima shopping arcade north of Oji Station is best known for this annual Tanabata celebration. Happening from July 29 to August 6, the vibrant and cheerful event sees the entire 600m street decorated with massive, colourful paper streamers.
The highlight takes place on August 6, when colourful samba parades (at 4pm and 6pm) lend some Brazilian vibes to the streets of Kita ward.
