Time Out says

The UNU Centre houses a permanent UN staff, hosts international conferences on global problems and offers classes. On the eighth floor is a good library for exploring human-rights issues and global concerns, while the galleries on the first and second floors are also worth checking out. At the weekends, the plaza outside the university hosts one of Tokyo's more popular farmers' markets.

What’s on

United Nations University Farmers' Market

The UNU farmers’ market is one of Tokyo’s longest running and best-attended markets. Taking place every weekend in front of the university’s Aoyama headquarters, this one always attracts a knowledgeable crowd. Organic and local fare is readily available every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, with the farmers themselves happy to provide details about their wares. Plus, there's always a few food trucks on hand if you wish to enjoy a quick meal.

Tokyo Coffee Festival

Find Japan’s largest selection of coffee shops and roasters in one place at the Tokyo Coffee Festival this weekend. This extensive coffee event will feature plenty of coffee, snacks and brewing accessories by approximately 50 coffee purveyors from around the country. If that wasn't enough to keep you caffeinated, there will also be a roundup of independent coffee shops from all over Asia including Singapore, Taipei and Hong Kong. During the event, you can go around tasting the coffee on offer using the festival-exclusive heat-resistant glass tasting mug. With an advance online reservation („2,500 per person), you can begin sampling coffees immediately after picking up your special mug, which includes four drink coins as well as a cafĂ©-themed zine. Otherwise, a starter set will still be available at the door for „2,700. The Tokyo Coffee Festival is held concurrently with the weekend Farmers Market, so don’t forget to stock up on fresh groceries while sipping on some of the best coffee from Japan and the world. Your weekend of ‘cafe-hopping’ sorted.
