As an influential figure in the history of photography, Andreas Feininger’s career included twenty years as a staff photographer for LIFE magazine. The son of Expressionist painter Lyonel Feininger, he was educated at the Bauhaus in Weimar in the 1920s, and later studied architecture in Dessau. A prolific writer, he is the author of more than fifty books on photography.
