Castor et Compagnie is an electro-acoustic quintet that was formed in the mid-1990's by Joane Hétu to perform her compositions, many of them song-like settings of texts, that combine the driving energy of rock music with the open formal spaces of creative improvised music. Joane has often re-formed the group over the intervening years for festival appearances and tours in Europe, for example, and the group's membership includes musicians who collaborate in countless groups and projects that form the core of Montreal's fienls of Musique actuelle.
