Linsmore Tavern says
Friday July 22nd, the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) is extremely excited to welcome funky jam band Brain Fudge featuring Chris Bottomley! There has been a lot of requests to bring in this amazing 9 piece band, who can be described as a touch of Funkadelic, stir in some Zappa and Dub it up with some Mardi Gras vibes! You do not want to miss this sizzling hot funky band that plays funk, reggae, dub, world, jazz, downtempo, you name it!

Versatile bassist & songwriter Chris Bottomley started his recording and performance antics in 1982 in post punk Toronto, performing along with his brother John and Sev Micron in the successful rock cirkus Tulpa. He started his funk/rock/jazz collective Brainfudge in 1991, a project that takes an anything goes musical approach to live gigs, ambling cheerfully between funk, rock, reggae and jazz.

This current incarnation of the band is all Toronto based musicians - drummer Great Bob Scott, saxophonists Richard Underhill and Perry White of Shuffle Demon fame, Trombonist Steve Donald, Malagasy guitarist and Juno winner Donne' Roberts, and Robert Scott on keys.
On the road, he’s played in backwoods bars, concert halls, music festivals, conferences, fundraisers, on the street, in circus parades, after hours clubs, private events, fashion shows, wrap parties, studios, on the radio, house parties and art galleries.
Gig highlights over his career include opening live for Grupo Fantasma (The Horseshoe, Toronto - 2007) Adrian Belew Power Trio (Mod Club - Toronto, 2009) Michelle Shocked (with Tulpa - CBGB -1987) & Vernon Reid’s Living Color (CBGB -1988, Concert Hall – Toronto, 1991).
As a sideman and bassist, he’s played with Mary Margaret O’Hara, Rich Underhill’s Funk Explosion, The Mofunk Collective, Asani, Wayne Lavallee, John Bottomley, Tulpa, Look People, Donne Roberts, Andru Branch, FreeDubStar, Gisto, House Of David, Sweden’s acclaimed Abjeez, Eccodek & Ainike
In 2013, Bottomley was fortunate to receive a recording grant from the Ontario Arts Council, right on the heels of a writing grant from the Toronto Arts Council, that spawned his current 12 song disc containing the funk of “My Head is Spinning”, the rocking “Rattle My Cage”, sweet reggae vibes of “Where is the Love”. & the soulful gospel blues of “A Better Day Will Come”.
Recently, his song “ A Better Day Will Come” appears in the film “A Masked Saint”. (2014)

Winner in 2005 of Unisong International Song Contest for his song “Belize City Bakin”
In world category.

This is going to be a really fun night with a lot of dancing! If you are a fan of jam bands, make sure you come to this show as it's going to be an incredible party! The show starts at 9pm, there will be a $5 cover charge!
