Type Books hosts the Toronto launch of the new poetry collection from Colorado-based poet Rebecca Eland, Within the Hour! Within the Hour, published by Plein-Air Editions, features imagery from Americana, collaborations with the painter / poet Alvaro Cardona-Hine and Andrew Schelling, a piece performed with ballerinas, and a brief translation from the Spanish. Joining Rebecca Eland for her Toronto visit are Linda Besner, reading from her new book Feel Happier in Nine Seconds (Coach House Books), and Natalie Wee, reading from her incredible debut Our Bodies and Other Fine Machines (Words Dance Publishing). And you can experience it all – for free!


Rebecca Eland earned her B.A at Naropa University and an M.F.A at Saint Mary's College of California. She has performed poetry with dancers from the Boulder Ballet, and at venues such as The Royal Botanical Gardens of Glasgow and Edinburgh, The Denver Art Museum and the Watershed Poetry Festival. She has taught at Deer Park Institute, India, and currently teaches College Composition and dances ballet. Rebecca lives in the mountains just outside of Boulder, Colorado.

Linda Besner is the author of The Id Kid, published in 2011 by Vehicule Press and named one of the National Post’s Best Poetry Books of the Year. Her poetry and journalism have appeared in numerous magazines. Her newest book, published by Coach House, is Feel Happier in Nine Seconds.

Natalie Wee is the author of Our Bodies & Other Fine Machines (Words Dance Publishing, 2016). Her work has been published or is forthcoming in The Adroit Journal, PRISM International, Maisonneuve, and more. She has been nominated for the 2016 Best of the Net Anthology, as well as a Pushcart Prize.
