Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano
Bradley Moore, piano

Winner of the prestigious 2015 Richard Tucker Award, and the 2013 Cardiff Singer of the World competition, this spectacularly gifted American mezzo-soprano has been hailed in the New York Times for her “sumptuous voice” and “utterly unforced carrying power…At 33, she seems poised for greatness.” The Guardian has proclaimed her “A great artist, no question, with an imperturbable steadiness of tone, and a nobility of utterance that invites comparison not so much with her contemporaries as with mid-twentieth century greats such as Kirsten Flagstad.” Among the highlights of her 2015/16 season were debuts with major opera companies in London (Royal Opera, Covent Garden), Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Washington, and Seattle. Opera isn’t her sole forte. To quote the New York Times once again, “Although Barton is rapidly establishing herself as one of the most important young voices in opera, it is in the intimate space of the recital hall where she shines brightest. Barton’s innate charm and communicative urgency radiated through her amber-hued voice and warm, Mona Lisa-smile directly to the audience."
