Like music? Movies? Like music in movies? Well, join us on April 10 for the FIRST EVER SCREENING of the new film series MUSICALE. There’ll Irish ladies in little black dresses, 16-year-olds with voices they have no business possessing, and Free Beer ("There's a band around called 'Free Beer.' Always draws a big crowd”). Basically, a good time – with booze you've gotta pay for.

From Alan Parker – FAME, PINK FLOYD THE WALL, and EVITA – comes another genre-breaking musical about guts, glory, and a little bit of rock ‘n roll.

In THE COMMITMENTS, Jimmy (Robert Arkins) aspires to manage the world's greatest band, and he has only one genre of music in mind: SOUL. Well, Jimmy’s got a problem. He lives in Dublin, and the guys auditioning for his band are more into U2 than James Brown. They don’t even know who James Brown is.

With 1.4 “fucks” per minute, the foul-mouthed Irish import “has so much rhythmic juice that it's nearly impossible to stay in your seat” (Washington Post). THE COMMITMENTS contains arguably one of the greatest film soundtracks ever thrown together, including Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness,” Aretha Franklin’s “Chain of Fools,” and Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally.”

THE COMMITMENTS also stars Andrew Strong as Jimmy’s lead singer, “Star Trek”’s Colm Meaney, and Glen Hansard, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for ONCE’s “Falling Slowly.”

MUSICALE – (noun) a program of music performed at a party – is a new monthly film series that celebrates everything from 1950s musicals to hip hop documentaries.
