Neon Dreams Presents: Blue Steel says
As we enter our second year of programming Neon Dreams would like to take the opportunity to celebrate women in film by introducing Kathryn Bigelow's psycho-sexual thriller BLUE STEEL. Jamie Lee Curtis plays a female rookie in the police force, engaged in a cat and mouse game with a pistol wielding psychopath who becomes obsessed with her (Ron Silver).

Most people know Kathryn Bigelow as the positively badass force behind contemporary award-darlings The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, but so many are unaware that she also helmed some of the most uniquely stylish and thoroughly bonkers genre titles of the 80s and 90s. With films like Near Dark, Point Break, Strange Days, and (the very underrated) K-19: The Widowmaker, she constantly took genres she was working with and used her style and swagger to elevate the material to unheard of territories, and we are very excited to present a rare screening of a criminally underseen film from one of the best film makers of our time.

You will cheer. You will laugh. You will might even get scared a little. But one thing is for certain: you will DEFINITELY see Jamie Lee Curtis shoot a bunch of dudes and take exactly zero shit from anyone!

As always, this screening and all others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsor Sonic Boom, many drinks will be served courtesy of Monarch Tavern, and we will be kicking off the evening with a mind-melting pre-show. So get here early!
