Neon Dreams Presents: Manhunter (1986) says
It should come as no surprise that Michael Mann was a massive driving force behind the inception of Neon Dreams. Why we've taken so long to screen one of his films is as puzzling to us as it might be to you. But on July 14th, we will make things right.

Manhunter is the first on-screen appearance of Hannibal Lecter (Lecktor?) and Will Graham, and just so happens to take place in perfect chronological succession to the recently cancelled series Hannibal - picking up exactly where it left off. Former FBI profiler Will Graham (Neon Dreams alumn William L. Petersen) returns to service to pursue a deranged serial murderer named "the Tooth Fairy" (Tom Noonan), seeking the help of recently incarcerated Hannibal Lecktor (Brian Cox).

Michael Mann's 1986 neo-noir classic is heralded by many as being one of the most stylish films of all time. However, unlike many films to which that moniker is often applied, the style never outweighs the substance. Despite its pastel glow, art-deco design, and Miami beach houses at sunset, Manhunter still manages to be one of the most subtle and terrifying psychological thrillers ever made.

As always, this screening and all others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsor Sonic Boom, many drinks will be served courtesy of Monarch Tavern, and we will be kicking off the evening with an appropriately mind-melting pre-show. So get here early!
