Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency says
Please join us for the Open Studio event of the 2015 Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency.

Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency is a combined curatorial, relational/live art, and sociopolitical praxis. The residency prioritizes political engagement with LGBTQ art and political histories in Canada.

This year sees the triumphant continuation of the residency, with the support of the Ontario Arts Council and private donors, our third summer in partnership with Artscape Gibraltar Point.

The residency is designed each summer to take unique care for each of the artists in the cohort, to find out how best to support each of them via the circumstances of this two week residency.

The jurors this year were Stefan ST-LAURENT, Kathleen PIRRIE ADAMS, and Syrus Marcus WARE. The artists of the 2015 Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency are:

Vincent CHEVALIER
Paradise KHANMALEK
Myung-Sun KIM
Humboldt MAGNUSSEN
Hagere Selam 'shimby' ZEGEYE-GEBREHIWOT

Each of the five artists enjoyed studio visits via Skype with leading figures in contemporary art whose work and experience resonates with some aspect of their investigation. The artists who generously gave their time and insight for Skype studio visits included

Noam GONICK
Nalo HOPKINSON
Mark JEFFERY
Nosheen KHWAJA
Terre THAEMLITZ

The Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency also enjoyed studio visits from invited local curators, artists, cultural workers and collectors. The 2015 guests of the Intergenerational LGBT Artist Residency were

Sharlene BAMBOAT
Ailsa CRAIG
John GREYSON
Andrew HUNTER
Christine SHAW
Stefan ST-LAURENT
Syrus Marcus WARE

The artists studios will be open from noon until 9pm. You are of course welcome to linger at AGP’s private beach, or visit Hanlan’s Point, and the many other enjoyments the Toronto Islands have to offer.
