Who will save the universe from the clutches of the evil Dr. Durand Durand? Why who else but our favourite PVC-clad ‘Queen of the Galaxy,’ BARBARELLA! Join us as we revel in the ultimate kitschy, queer, space-camp classic from director Roger Vadim. This ground-breaking film, adapted from Jean-Claude Forest's French Barbarella comics, was one of the first films to positively portray a queer, sexually liberated, and empowered female lead, and has proven to be massively influential on pop culture - from music (Duran Duran!) to fashion and film design (Jean Paul Gaultier's designs in The Fifth Element).

Barbarella (Jane Fonda), “astronautical navigatrix" of the united Earth government in the 41st century, is dispatched to locate scientist Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea), whose positronic ray, if not recovered, could signal the end of humanity. Along the way, she encounters a plethora of dangerous and sexy situations, costume changes, and a colourful cast of characters, including John Phillip Law (Danger Diabolik), David Hemmings (Blow Up) as the subtly named rebel leader ‘Dildano,’ Rolling Stones muse and ‘it-girl’ Anita Pallenberg, and famous mime Marcel Marceau.

A true masterpiece of erotic campiness and candy-coloured, eye-popping visuals, BARBARELLA is the sci-fi trip we all need right now.
