Shut Up And Write, Saturday Apr 22, 2017 (Central Toronto) says
THE DRILL: We gather in a café with our laptops and/or notebooks and pens. We each have something we need to write, whether that be a blog post, a funding proposal, an essay, part of a novel or a script or a thesis, etc. We write for 25 mins at a time, with social breaks in between.

Originating in San Francisco, Shut Up and Write meet ups place the typically solitary activity of writing into a more social space. Here, everyone writes and there are no audiences. We’re all practicing peers, regardless of our credentials, our chosen genres and whether we self-identify as writers.

THE TIME: The official event time is 2 pm to 5 pm, although the cafe will stay open past 5pm, so feel free to linger.

THE VENUE: We'll be meeting in the back room of Glad Day Bookshop, 499 Church Street. The room holds a maximum of 17 seated people but 10-12 is a more comfortable number. This venue is wheelchair accessible. It has an all genders restroom, and a café area and bar. Wifi is available. We will have access to one electrical outlet and a power bar, so if you're using a laptop, it's still best to charge it beforehand. If there are many people in the café and bookshop area, the background noise can definitely be noticeable in the back room area so you may wish to bring headphones.

We acknowledge the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishnaabe and the Wendat as the past, present and future custodians of the land on which we'll be meeting.

This session is hosted by Dorianne Emmerton and Tom Cho.
