Solargraphs An Exhibition By Andrew Owen A01 says
OnlyOneGallery and Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival present SOLARGRAPHS: Massive Camera-less Photographs, a solo exhibition by Andrew Owen A01

May 18 - 26, 2017

The exhibition will be accompanied by a forty-four page catalogue with images, and essays in both English and Chinese by Peggy Gale, senior independent curator and Yan Zhou, independent curator, Canada-China. Catalogues will be available for purchase.

SOLARGRAPHS are large-format photographs - created without camera, lens or negative - employing only natural floral and fauna, sunlight and water on photosynthesized fabric, stretched over wood armatures. All works in this exhibition are entirely in tones of blue; from pure white, through cyan, to deep Prussian blue-black. Some works featured in this exhibition are the largest single-take photographs produced in Canada.

A portfolio of solargraphs is available here:

Solargraphs are one of seven interrelated programmes of artwork by Andrew Owen A01. Work at his Seven Streams Studio reestablished in Toronto 2012 is undergoing a decompression and fluorescence after 18 years operating in hyper-crowded Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Vancouver.

This is A01’s first solo exhibition at a Toronto gallery in more than two decades.

A portfolio of recent work by A01 is available here:
