Pride Toronto says
Pride Toronto is pleased to announce the first Trans* Pride Community Meeting looking towards 2016. Come share your thoughts and ideas for Pride Toronto’s 2016 Trans* Pride programs on Friday 9 October 2015 at the Parliament Branch of the Toronto Public Library (269 Gerrard Street East, Toronto), 6PM - 8PM.

Pride Toronto aims to generate thoughtful and collaborative discussions specifically about the Trans* Pride Rally & March and related activities (Trans* Space, Trans* Community Fair, Community Meetings). Pride Toronto seeks to be accountable to our communities by upholding values of transparency, respect, and collaboration. Hosting Community Meetings is one of the ways Pride works to fulfill this goal.

YOUR FEEDBACK IS ESSENTIAL TO OUR ORGANIZING

Following discussions with community partners and stakeholders, the agenda will include (but shall not be limited to):

• Trans* Pride Rally & March + Date
• Trans* Space
• Trans* Community Fair
• Community outreach and community building initiatives
• Upcoming Pride Toronto AGM

The meeting is open to all trans* identified and gender independent folks and allies. We seek to create a space that is as safe, inclusive and supportive as possible for people who are trans* and/or gender-independent or non-binary. We recognize that we live in a society full of power imbalances along lines of race, class, gender, sex, sexuality, age, physical ability, size and other diverse identities. Though these differences can feel intimidating, we also affirm that we share common experience that inspires us to fight these norms. As we work towards ending transphobia in our society, we feel it is essential to build community and experience each other in new ways, loving and supporting one another.

If you are unable to attend, please do send along your thoughts either via email (tk@pridetoronto.com), postal service or hand delivery to: Trans* Pride, Pride Toronto, 55 Berkeley Street, Toronto, ON, M5A 2W5. Messages received by 5PM on Thursday 8 October will be presented at the meeting.
