“...director Colin Munch is pushing the boundaries of improvised storytelling...“ Carly Maga, The Toronto Star

“With True Blue, director Colin Munch is bringing something different to Bad Dog’s improv lineup and the effect is thrilling… An hour of theatre that plays on a formula you’ve surely seen a hundred times (Law & Order, NYPD Blue, Castle, every other show on TV) and creates something you’ve never seen before.” - Kelly Bedard, My Entertainment World

Following a sold-out run at the Bad Dog Comedy Theatre, A Vagrant Theatre (Dying Hard - Best of Fest, Atlantic Fringe Fest) and the Bad Dog Theatre Company (Toronto, I Love You - NNNN, Now Magazine, 3.5 stars, Toronto Star) are pleased to announce that the improvised cop drama True Blue will play at the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival.

What are the ripples that follow after a tragedy? How is a community affected by loss? Who benefits from murder? True Blue is a fully improvised police drama about family, lies and loss set in rural Ontario. Though inspired by atmospheric police procedurals such as True Detective, The Fall, Top of the Lake and Broadchurch, each episode of True Blue is a standalone mystery. From the discovery of the crime scene to the unravelling of alibis, loyalties are tested and evidence is gathered in a spontaneously crafted thriller - as much a character study of two detectives as of the town they are charged with protecting.

A co-production between A Vagrant Theatre and the Bad Dog Theatre Company, True Blue features mainstays of Toronto’s theatrical community, including: Amy Matysio (2016 Dora Winner, Best Ensemble, Wizard of Oz - Young People's Theatre, Wolf Cop, Soulpepper), Anand Rajaram (2016 Dora Winner, Mustard - Tarragon Theatre), Danny Pagett (Help Yourself, 2012 Fringe New Play Winner, Theatre Brouhaha), Kevin Vidal (2016 Dora Winner, Audience Choice, One Night Only: An Improvised Musical, 2016 Canadian Screen Award, Best Ensemble, Sunnyside), Paloma Nuñez (Chile Con Carne - Theatre Alameda), Shanda Bezic (Rookie Blue, Flashpoint) & music by Nick DiGaetano (Toronto, I Love You - Bad Dog Theatre).
