“I’ll see you again in 25 years.”

A quarter century after David Lynch first transported us to the Black Lodge, LADIES of BURLESQUE returns you to its surreal clutches with our screening of TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME—a celebration of the show’s long-fabled return! And with special Peaky performances from Toronto’s burlesque greats (Dolly Monroe, Betty Quirk, and more), this is the perfect prep for season 3’s hotly anticipated premiere.

A prequel to the ground-breaking television show, FWWM recounts the final week in the life of ill-fated beauty queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Addicted to cocaine, and enmeshed in several sexual entanglements, the troubled teen desperately battles demons, including her lifelong tormentor, “Bob.” With FWWM, Lynch revealed more of Twin Peaks’ intrigue and twisted truths, while also imparting more intricacy to the story’s victims, including Teresa Banks (Pamela Gidley) and Ronette Pulaski (Phoebe Augustine). The addition of spooky characters played by David Bowie, Chris Isaac, and Harry Dean Stanton, as well as the beloved “Lil the Dancer” (Kimberly Ann Cole), further enhanced the otherworldliness of Twin Peaks.

Reviled upon its Cannes premiere, FWWM underwent a recent period of reconsideration, with many critics characterizing it as a key Lynchian work. A horror film at its core, FWWM is a complicated film that reminds us of the victimization and violence behind the quirk and eccentricity of the television sensation. Pie, coffee, and donuts will be served; costumes are encouraged.
