A glorious 21C heatwave is on the way next week, and it’s going to last for ages

It’s expected to be warmer in the UK than it is in Rome and Nice

After a balmy Easter bank holiday, this week’s windy weather and heavy rain has left us feeling nippy. Thankfully, the unsettled UK climate – caused in part by Storm Noa (as France has christened it) – isn’t going to last.

Next week, the sun is making a comeback, with temperatures predicted to beat the typically hotter likes of Nice and Rome. Bad luck if you were planning a quick getaway to France or Italy

Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, said: ‘Sunshine and rising temperatures through next week widespread 17C to 21C is on the cards.’

But don’t reach for the sun cream just yet, as the rest of this week should remain choppy. The Met Office has issued yellow wind warnings, with reports of 60mph powerful gales in some areas. Travel is likely to be disrupted, particularly in coastal areas in south Wales and southern England. Things will remain unsettled through the rest of the week, with a confusing back-and-forth of sunshine and heavy showers across the UK.

From the weekend on, however, the weather should be fine and dandy – and for well over a week or so. It’s Pimm’s time, people!

ICYMI: Britain’s ‘poshest village’ is in revolt over plans to turn a country house into a party venue.

Plus: The Eurotunnel shuttle is selling return trips to France for £50.
