Gucci, the awkward middle child of the luxury goods world, doesn’t currently have any UK standalone stores outside of London. Its only presence across the rest of the country is inside expensive department stores and on the feet of ‘entrepreneurs’ who swear they didn’t take out a loan to buy their shoes, really.

This will all change soon, as the brand is opening its first branch outside of the capital. Edinburgh will welcome its new Gucci store sometime ‘soon’, in the shop’s own words.

The new location is on Multrees Walk, the city’s luxury shopping district, alongside the likes of Harvey Nichols, Burberry, Mulberry, and lots of other eye wateringly-spenny brands.

Gucci’s building used to be split between Caffe Nero and Hugo Boss, both of which have since closed. The storefront is adorned with the somewhat ominous message ‘GUCCI: Opening soon.’ So take from that what you will.

Edinburgh at Time Out

Edinburgh is one of many UK cities we like to keep an eye on. For instance, did you know that Edinburgh could get its very own Night Czar? Or that the Scottish capital is getting a new £2 million tram route? If you’re in the area and looking for a delicious meal, a great night out, or something fun but free to do, we’ve got guides for that.

Did you see that this Scottish luxury manor has been crowned Britain’s best hotel by the Times?

Plus: these five picturesque areas have been shortlisted to become Scotland’s third national park.
