Metallica at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium: start time, last-minute tickets, potential setlist and what you need to know

Cardiff is one of just three British cities that will be graced by the presence of metal icons Metallica this summer. The M72 World Tour is in the Welsh capital this weekend for a ‘one night only’ show with support from the unmissable Gojira and Knocked Loose.

The M72 Tour was in Glasgow last Thursday and will head to London for two shows next week. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and co are at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, the biggest venue in Wales.

The thrash metal legends are in Cardiff on Sunday June 28 2026.

What time do doors open at the Principality Stadium?

Gates open on Sunday at 3.30pm.

What time will Metallica come on stage?

So far on the M72 Tour Metallica have started the main set at around 8pm. Given the Cardiff date is on a Sunday with an earlier gates and curfew, expect the band on at around 7.30pm.

What’s the seating plan?

Find a map of the Principality for the Metallica show below according to Ticketmaster – featuring a special set-up. A 360-degree doughnut stage sits in the middle of (what would be) the pitch, with a ‘snake pit’ in the middle.

The band have two huge support acts in the Welsh capital: metalcore beasts Knocked Loose and prog-death legends Gojira. Here are the timings

What’s the Principality Stadium’s bag policy?

The Principality urges all concertgoers not to bring bags. However, the venue permits bags sized 35cm x 40cm x 19cm or smaller.

How’s the forecast for the Principality on Sunday? In short, pretty good, according to the Met Office:
