With everything going on recently, have you found yourself just wanting to escape it all? Perhaps run away to a remote castle in Scotland and start a new life, away from all the trials and tribulations of your current one?

Us too. And funnily enough, we’ve found the perfect place – and it’s on sale right now for £625,000. Just to the north of Dundee, Powrie Castle has been going through some serious renovation for the past 30 years.

Now, it’s an A-listed seventeenth-century castle with all the works. You know, decorative windows and turrets and all that. Parts of its Renaissance and medieval features have been preserved to keep its history alive, so it still feels castle-y.

The castle’s origins are from around 1172, when a property on the same site was given as a gift to Earl of Angus Robert Ogilve from his mate King William the Lion (sick name brah).

From the outside it’s major, but inside things are still pretty cool, with a 325-square-foot drawing room, high vaulted ceiling and a dining room with flagstone flooring. There are also oak-beamed ceilings and an inglenook fireplace (Google it).

The only bit of sad news is that the castle used to have its very own bakery, which doesn’t exist any more. But the good news is it’s now been converted into a huge kitchen, with a dining table, stone vaulted ceiling, bread oven and Aga cooker.

There are also three double bedrooms, so you can have all your pals over. One of them is ‘the grand Laird and Lady’s bedroom’, which has its own en-suite. Oh, and from there, you can make your way to the ‘Tower Room’, which is perfect as a little study or art room.

Want to book in a viewing? You can find out more about the property here.

ICYMI: one of England’s most beautiful villages (yes, the whole thing) is now for sale.

Plus: more rail strikes are planned for September – here’s everything you need to know.
