If you went to a Yayoi Kusama exhibition and didn’t Instagram it, did you really go? The Japanese artist has a chokehold on Insta-friendly aesthetics – just look at the popularity of Infinity Mirror Rooms (which is always sold out) at the Tate.

But now we’ve all got another great chance to check out her works. Next summer, Kusama is coming to Manchester for her biggest ever show.

The exhibition is called ‘You, Me and the Balloons’ and it’ll open in August 2023. It’s being billed as Kusama’s largest immersive environment of all time, with many works more than ten metres tall. You can expect all manner of psychedelic creations to be on show, from giant dolls to a constellation of polka-dot spheres.

The show forms part of the inaugural programme at new venue The Factory, which will also host a new Matrix-themed dance and music spectacular directed by Danny Boyle at the end of the summer. Kusama’s show will run from June 28 to August 28, with tickets priced from £7.50 to £15. You can find out more about The Factory programme here.
