All Bank Holidays are great, but the one in August has a special place in Britons’ hearts. After all, blissful weather is (usually) guaranteed, the kids are off school and there are loads of festivals and events. Plus, there’s Notting Hill Carnival – and who doesn’t like Carni?

As always, this year Brits are out to make the best of the last of the summer hols. But where are we all headed for the long weekend? Whether you’re wanting to follow the crowds or avoid them completely, TripAdvisor has scoured its data and handily compiled a list of the domestic UK destinations that are expected to be the most popular for August 2023’s Bank Holiday.

The top trending destination this bank hols is apparently Dawlish in Devon, a seaside town known for its coastal walking trails. Dawlish is a popular staycay spot – it’s no wonder that the town is set to be heaving once again this weekend.

In second place was the medieval town of King’s Lynn in Norfolk, while third went to the sweeping sandy beaches of Seahouses in Northumberland

Here are the top ten most popular travel destinations this August bank holiday, according to TripAdvisor.

  1. Dawlish, Devon
  2. King’s Lynn, Norfolk
  3. Seahouses, Northumberland
  4. Woolacombe, Devon
  5. Aviemore, Scottish Highlands
  6. Brodick, Isle of Arran
  7. Hayle, Cornwall
  8. Douglas, Isle of Man
  9. Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire
  10. Skipton, North Yorkshire
