For all that it has to offer, Orkney in Scotland has never been the easiest place to get to. Home to 70 islands, 500 miles of coastline, one of the oldest Neolithic sites in Europe and the country’s most remote Lidl, this stunning archipelago must be one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. However, you’ve probably been put off visiting because of the hours upon hours of travelling and different modes of transport involved.

Well, good news: visiting this remote Scottish island has just got a hell of a lot simpler. A new route between London and Orkney has now been launched with Loganair.

The first flight departed on April 4 and operates twice weekly on a Tuesday and Friday. It takes a total of three-and-a-half-hours from London City Airport to Kirkwall Airport, stopping over in Dundee en route (but passengers are not required to leave the plane).

Fares start at £117.99 one way and come with a 15kg baggage allowance. Tickets are on sale now.
