Huge news for anyone who watched Netflix's smash documentary series, Making A Murderer, with gritted teeth and clenched fists: Stephen Avery's nephew, Brendan Dassey, has had his conviction overturned.

WISN in Milwaukee is reporting that Dassey, who was sentenced to life with no parole in 2007 for his alleged involvement in the murder of Teresa Halbach, will be released from prison after a federal judge declared that his own lawyer's performance had been "indefensible."

Viewers of MAM will recall lawyer Len Kachinsky's queasy-making handling of the case, including bringing in a private investigator to interrogate his client.

From WISN: "The court ruled Dassey's confession 'involuntary' based on 'false promises' by interrogators, 'Dassey's age, intellectual deficits.'"
