Wahlburgers announces massive nationwide expansion

The burger chain founded by Mark Wahlberg and brothers Donnie and Paul (who acts as head chef) is set to spread its Massachusetts-flavored love across the country.

Wahlburgers last week announced deals with five franchise groups that would see more than 30 new stores opening soon—combined with previous expansion notices, that means we will be seeing 118 Wahlburgers opening across the country in the next few years.

It's an ambitious expansion given the chain currently has just seven stores across Massachusetts, Florida, Nevada, New York and Pennsylvania.

Fans of the burgers—and the A&E TV series that follows chef Paul (and which has been renewed for at least two more seasons)—can expect to see new stores opening from coast to coast and into the deep south.

According to a press release, there are plans to open five to 10 new restaurants in Massachusetts (including one in the Wahlbergs' hometown of Dorchester); four restaurants in the Carolinas; six in Atlanta and Savannah and six more in Cleveland and Detroit. On the West Coast, eight new restaurants are slated for the Bay area and a 15-store agreement has been signed for L.A.

Note: We somehow got through this post without a Mark-Wahlberg-Boogie-Nights-meat-pun. We're not sure how.
