Just in time for Star Wars Day on May 4, gamers will have something new to play—and for free!

Star Wars: Droid Wars is a Player vs. Environment (PvE) game on Fortnite that anyone can find by inputting its map code. Players can drive their respective droids, which will have nine weapons (laser, railgun, rockets, cluster, flamethrower, freeze, chain), aim and hit detection and a heating/overheating system, for a fun beat ‘em up time.

The developer, Enigma, posted about the release on X, including a sneak peek of the gameplay, saying it is "a new take on Star Wars combat—blending iconic heroes with fully drivable battle mechs Battle across Tatooine, where something unexpected is beginning to grow."

The game was created on Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) using officially licensed assets thanks to a collaboration between Fortnite and Star Wars.

Enigma will release it on May 1, so you can play all weekend!

If you’re like me and languishing away while you await the Knights of the Old Republic remake, or the forthcoming Eclipse, Galactic Racer, Fate of the Old Republic, this might help fill that Star Wars-shaped hole in your heart that recent films and TV shows haven’t been able to.

May the fourth be with you!
