When social media went wild with videos and photos of the American Horror Story cast filming on the streets of New York City last week, one person was noticeably absent: Ariana Grande.

The pop singer had been cast in the show’s 13th installment, “13 Flavors,” but because of scheduling conflicts, she had to bow out, according to Deadline. Due to changes to the show’s production dates and her Eternal Sunshine Tour, she was unable to film.

Grande’s Brooklyn show was rescheduled to July 14 and her Boston show shifted to July 23 and 26.

Not much is known about the new season, which premieres September 24, except that the “Coven” storyline will return. FX/Ryan Murphy Productions released a first-look photo this month of Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode.

Aside from Paulson, the show will once again bring together an all-star cast—many of whom are reprising fan-favorite roles: Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Jessica Lange, Billie Lourd, Evan Peters, Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts and John Waters. Deadline says John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari and Mat Fraser will return as characters they’ve played in other AHS installments, while Paul Anthony Kelly, Berto Colón and Joey Pollari will make their franchise debuts.

Some Ariana Grande fans are understandably disappointed, but for the most part, given the star’s schedule, it’s easy to understand. As she hasn’t appeared in the series before, fans of the show feel that nothing was lost.

You can watch the new season at 9pm ET (6pm PT) on FX and Hulu starting September 24. Until then, folks going to San Diego Comic-Con will get to enjoy a fleet of ice cream trucks offering “sinister sweets” inspired by each of the series’ previous chapters, starting July 23. Fans can rub shoulders and pose for photos with Rubber Man (“Murder House”), Twisty the Clown (“Freak Show”), the Witch (“Coven”) and other iconic AHS characters. On Saturday evening, fans will be invited to a secret location to experience the 13th scoop. (Stay tuned to AHS on social media for details on locations, timing and other information.)
